In recent years, the Sunoil organization has experienced significant growth. In addition to the biodiesel plant in Emmen, which started operations in 2005, Sunoil established a Trading Office in Amsterdam in 2018 and, in 2019, acquired a biodiesel plant with a logistics hub in Kampen. This growth has necessitated the expansion and further professionalization of the board of directors to ensure the Sunoil Group is well-positioned for future development and long-term sustainability.
At the end of November, Mr. Wilfred Hadders stepped down as a statutory director and management board member. Consequently, the existing management team members have been appointed as the statutory board of the Sunoil Group. The new statutory board now consists of Sonja Nijhoving (CFO), Jeroen Hovius (CCO), and Marcel Garst (CC&SO). Sonja Nijhoving joined the company in 2023, Jeroen Hovius in 2024, and Marcel Garst in 2020. Each of them brings many years of experience in the corporate world, including substantial expertise in the biofuels sector.
Statement from Wilfred Hadders: “I have full confidence in the new statutory management team and view this as a positive step forward to further shape the growth of the Sunoil organization. I have led the company to where it stands today, but I recognize that, in the current era, different competencies are required. Additionally, I must shift my focus in the coming period to a legal proceeding. In light of this, I have decided to take a step back as a director to prioritize the interests of Sunoil in every way possible.”
Statement from board of directors: “We take on the statutory responsibilities of the Sunoil Group with great confidence. The company is in excellent financial health. In recent years, Sunoil has made significant investments to expand production capacity at its factory locations in Emmen and Kampen. Additionally, automation, quality controls, and safety protocols have been updated, while processes related to the sustainability certification of biofuels have been further tightened. As a result, Sunoil now meets the highest industry standards. Over the past few years, all audits and (quality) inspections have been successfully completed with positive results. Recently, also an independent external Compliance Officer confirmed that Sunoil is fully in control and compliant. We would like to thank Wilfred for his many years of dedication and service as a director of the Sunoil Group.”
